Washington man accused of battering cop
A Washington man is in jail after he was accused of attempting to head butt a police officer.
Zacharia B. Holm, 29, of Elmer City, Wash., is charged with battery of a law enforcement officer, a felony.
Police responded to a State Line bar around 11:30 p.m. on Sept. 27 after receiving a report of a man who had refused to leave the property.
When police arrived, Holm was reportedly attempting to stand up his motorcycle in front of the building and did not respond to commands to place the bike on the ground.
An officer grabbed Holm’s arm, walked him over to a patrol vehicle and placed him in handcuffs, according to court records.
Holm reportedly gave police permission to search his pockets. During the search, police said he “shifted his body weight” toward one officer, “driving his shoulder” into the side of the officer’s body.
He also allegedly “attempted to whip his head,” which the officer interpreted as a head butt, court records said.
Holm was arrested and charged with battery.
A judge ordered Tuesday that Holm be held on $50,000 bail.
