A man is facing a felony charge after he allegedly beat his girlfriend Friday night.

Rathdrum resident Jason Parting has been charged with felony domestic battery.

Police responded to a domestic dispute at a Rathdrum home around 11 p.m. on Sept. 25.

A crying woman who was identified as Parting’s girlfriend told police that Parting had just gone into the bedroom, where a firearm was located.

The woman had a large, bleeding cut on her forehead, as well as a “goose egg” about two inches in size, according to court documents. Her right eyelid was swollen and bruised, as was her lip, and she had several other cuts on her face.

She told police Parting was drunk and had hit her in the face repeatedly.

Parting was arrested at the scene and transported to the Kootenai County jail.

A judge ordered Monday that Parting be held on $60,000 bail and issued a no-contact order between Parting and the woman.

A pretrial hearing is scheduled for Oct. 6.
