GRIDIRON GUESSES: High school games are over, but the guesses continue

The high school football season for local teams ended perhaps a week earlier than many around here anticipated.

Coeur d'Alene's loss at Rocky Mountain in last Friday's state 5A semifinals also ended the prep portion of Gridiron Guesses for the season.

Both Mark and Jason picked Coeur d'Alene to win.

For the season, Jason finished 32-14 on high school picks, and Mark was 31-15.

In the college picks, Jason correctly picked Oregon to win at WSU, while Mark foolishly thought the Cougs could win for a second straight week. Though, much like a certain election, WSU did lead last week following the early returns.

So for the season, Jason is 33-14, Mark 31-16.

Due to popular demand — ? — we'll continue picking the area college games as long as WSU and Boise State are still playing this fall. Then we'll resume with our special spring edition of Gridiron Guesses when (if?) Idaho and Eastern Washington play.

COLLEGES

Washington State (1-1, 1-1 Pac-12) at Stanford (0-2, 0-2)

Saturday, 7:30 p.m., FS1

NELKE: WSU has been victorious in its last two trips to The Farm, in 2016 and ’18. Might as well make it three straight.

WSU, 27-24

ELLIOTT: The Pac-12 did us a favor by moving up the start time up 30 minutes. Hopefully the Cougars remember to play all 60 minutes this weekend.

Stanford, 27-20

Boise State (3-1, 3-0 Mountain West) at Hawaii (2-2, 2-2)

Saturday, 8 p.m. (PST), CBSSN

NELKE: Weird things seem to happen in games at Hawaii, but Boise should be able to overcome that and the Rolo-less Rainbow Warriors.

Boise State, 31-20

ELLIOTT: Boise State seems like it has bounced back from whatever that BYU result was.

Boise State, 31-17
