LAWSUIT: Short on homework

| November 15, 2020 1:00 AM

I am disturbed by the article in the Wednesday Press that the local GOP is suing the school district, with subtitle of “Hopes to expose CDA district’s ‘left-wing activists.’” The GOP cited the school district’s alleged discrimination of applying electioneering laws.

You have to read the article and in the last paragraph, the response from the Coeur d’Alene School District is that they have a regulation that prohibits any political campaigning on school property. According to the GOP’s lawyer, Jeremy Morris stated that the Republicans were distributing fliers and they were more than 100 feet from the polling place. If that 100 feet was on school property, then the school district had a right to request them to leave.

I find it interesting that no one is looking to expose right-wing activists in the school district. Morris references that in 2019 the district allowed Kwanzaa “holiday program in which children recited the seven principles of Marxism in Swahili.”

It is obvious that Morris has not done his homework. The first principle is Umoja, meaning unity in Swahili. It is defined as “To strive for and maintain unity in the family, community, nation and race.” The last principle is “To believe with all our heart in our people, our parents, our teachers, our leaders and the righteousness and victory of our struggle.” If these are Marxist principles, I will eat my hat!
