Donald James Alderman, 77
Donald James Alderman, 77, of Rathdrum, Idaho, passed away on Nov. 5, 2020, at 12:18 p.m.
Don was born on May 9, 1943, to Lila Baker and Donald Alderman Sr., in Rockford, Ill. He attended middle school in Rockton before he graduated from Estacada High School, in Estacada, Ore., where he played football, basketball and ran track.
After graduation, Don hitchhiked across the country and landed in Grass Valley, Calif., where he met the love of his life, Peggy Maurer, whom he was happily married to for 55 years. They married on Feb. 6, 1965, and went on to have five children: Lisa, Shaun, Stacey, Joshua and Buck.
Don was always determined to put God and the love for his family above anything else and was unendingly proud of each of them. In his early years, Don painted and ran the ski lift towers in Squaw Valley, Calif., then eventually moved to Oregon City, Ore., where he had a concrete construction company. Later, Don and Peggy moved to North Idaho and founded the Coeur d’Alene Dressing Company.
Anyone who knew Don, knew that he was the most loving husband, father and grandfather a family could ask for. Don was predeceased by Donald Alderman Sr. and Lila Baker. He is survived by his wife, Peggy Alderman; mother, Nancy Alderman; his brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Becky Alderman; his sister and brother-in-law, Yvonne and Dave Mischka; his sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Marcy DeZern, Michelle and Dale Hanke and Dawna Maurer Young; his children, Lisa and Mark Honnell, Shaun and Kelly Alderman, Stacey and Daron Neet, Joshua and Abby Alderman and Buck Alderman; his grandchildren, Jordan Neet, Porsha Alderman, Ashley Honnell, Brytani Benway, Alexis Alderman, Aubrey Benway, Dylan Barnes Alderman, Christopher Alderman, Kaitlyn Alderman, Isaiah Alderman and Everett Alderman; and his great-grandchildren, Jade Atwood, Alayah Atwood, Azalea Welpton, Carter Stefl, Beverly Willard and Coleen Willard; along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
There will be a celebration of life to honor Don from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, 2020, held at Red Lion Hotel Templin’s on the River, 414 E. First Ave., Post Falls, ID 83854.
