Robert ‘Bob’ Smith, 74
Robert Landis Smith, 74, of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, was called home to the Lord on Saturday, Oct. 31, 2020, after his long battle with heart disease.
Born in Kellogg, Idaho, Bob moved with his parents, Landis and Edith Smith, in 1949, to Coeur d’Alene, where he lived the rest of his life. Bob was a native Idahoan, a husband, father of two and a grandfather.
Prior to retiring in 2009, after 36 years at the Idaho Veneer Company in Post Falls, Bob worked with his father-in-law as a carpenter, where he built several homes and businesses around the Coeur d’Alene area. Bob was also proud to serve his community as a volunteer firefighter for the Kootenai County fire district for more than 17 years.
Bob loved to travel with his friends and family. He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed spending time at his property near the Coeur d’Alene River. He enjoyed it most when spending time with his family, riding four-wheelers, barbecuing and sitting around the campfire. Bob was a do-it-yourself kind of guy and was fond of spending time in his shop building “contraptions” and working on projects of all kinds. If a project was finished, it was time to start another.
Bob was also generous with his time and talents and was always willing to help anyone he could. Whether he was plowing his neighbors’ driveways with his side-by-side or helping friends and family in other ways, Bob was always eager to lend a hand or give advice.
Bob is survived by his wife, Pamela Smith (Rehard) of Coeur d’Alene. He also has two children: Michelle Hull of Coeur d’Alene and Denny Smith of Snohomish, Wash., and four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Bob enjoyed his life and is now at home with his parents once again. He will be missed but always remembered.
Memorial services for Bob will be announced at a later date. Yates Funeral Home is entrusted with final arrangements. Please visit Bob’s online memorial and sign his guest book at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com
