MASKS: Research truth, Press

| November 6, 2020 1:00 AM

To mask or not to mask, that is the question. Seems like everyone these days is getting into this debate. I have a proposal that could solve this problem once and for all.

My challenge to the writers and editors at the Coeur d’Alene Press is to actually do their own research on the issue, rather than just parrot what all the politicians and so-called “health experts” are saying. Look through the medical and scientific research that has been done on the efficacy of masks preventing the spread of viral infections.

I must warn you, though, that this might prove a difficult assignment because there is very little out there. In fact, recent data that is emerging shows that in countries where there have been more restrictive shut downs and forced mask compliance, the COVID rate has actually gone up.

Those who question the official narrative are not anti-science, we simply want to examine the evidence and draw our own conclusions. To be fair, if The Press is able to come up with some convincing documentation that show mask wearing is helpful, you must allow the publication of evidentiary arguments that would come to a contrary opinion. I can think of no greater public service the news media can do but to provide a platform for the free exchange of ideas and opinions, and let the truth of a matter prevail.
