SHERIFF: He’s completely right

| May 17, 2020 1:00 AM

On Wednesday, Sheriff Wolfinger was quoted in an article saying that each county should be judged on its own regarding reopening after the China virus.

I wholeheartedly agree with Sheriff Wolfinger. Gov. Little’s one-size-fits-all approach is not valid since most of the virus cases have been in Ada and Nez Pierce counties. Why should all the other counties be penalized and the employees and businesses destroyed because of specific and easily identified areas of the state where the China virus is most active?

Gov. Little should revise his plans immediately and let individual counties decide how to approach their reopening. This shutdown is causing more deaths than the actual virus. It’s time for a realistic approach to this virus; for instance, in Ada County the death rate is .0045% per 100,000, with most deaths from people over 65. It’s time for the economists to start speaking out to balance the overreach of the health officials. What good is a healthy person if they’re broke and homeless?

It’s time to fully reopen Idaho and stop the silly, draconian, ineffective, China virus mitigation efforts.
