Triple Play closed Raptor Reef on Monday

Raptor Reef Waterpark at Triple Play Family Fun Park officially closed Monday, more than four days after Gov. Brad Little's coronavirus pandemic stay-home orders on Wednesday.

The waterpark closed to the public Thursday but remained open for hotel guests.

"We did it as a courtesy to the hotel guests looking for recreation,” said Triple Play Resort Hotel and Suites general manager Tami Crawford.

She said it was only used by one family at a time and that the lifeguards had been trained in social distancing. Plenty of hand sanitizer and disinfectants were on site.

"All of our staff has been trained on that," she said.

Triple Play is closed until further notice, but the hotel will continue to operate as an essential service.

"We take the health and safety of our guests and the community seriously," said marketing and sales director Jennifer Ross.

Best Western Plus Coeur d'Alene Inn President J.J. Jaeger and his staff acted quickly when Little made the announcement.

"Once the stay at home order was issued by the governor, we closed our pool, hot tub and fitness center out of an abundance of caution for our guests and our team members," Jaeger said.

He said guests have been really understanding about the pool and fitness center closures.

The Inn's restaurant, Mulligan's, is also closed, but guests can order food to go and order room service.

"We're remaining open," Jaeger said. "We’re really focusing on guest and team member safety. We're being very thorough with cleaning, as always, but we're taking extra measures to be as safe as possible."

Little’s order requires individuals to self-isolate in their homes, except to provide or receive essential services; all non-essential businesses and government agencies to cease operations; and prohibits non-essential gatherings and travel. Violation of the order or noncompliance could constitute a misdemeanor punishable by fine, imprisonment or both.

The order will continue until 11:59 p.m. April 15 unless Little decides to extend it.
