Don Morris
Don Morris was born in Du Quoin, Ill., in 1927 and lived there until he moved to Pendleton, Ore., at age 17, and worked at the Harris Pine Mills. This is where he met his wife of 71 years. Don and Jeanne married in August of 1948. Then Don went to school to learn lab and X-ray, and he worked in that field for two years in Raymond, Wash., before he was drafted into the service as a medic and served in 1952 and 1953.
After he got out of the service, they moved to Pasco, Wash., where Linda and Brian were born. The family moved to Coeur d’Alene and purchased Pinewood Manor. They built Sunset Nursing Home in 1968 and Camlu in 1972, and they took good care of the aging population. Don and Jeanne retired in 1990 and traveled through at least 14 countries, flew over Mount Everest, and enjoyed their six grandchildren.
Don’s determination and love for people and music kept him seizing every moment of his 92 years. He will be missed.
Private graveside services will be held. English Funeral Chapel, Coeur d’Alene, has been entrusted with Don’s care and services. Please sign Don’s guest registry and view his online memorial at www.englishfuneralchapel.com.
