Notable Calls of the Day!
03-13-2020
• Deputies responded to the Higgen’s Point area reference a welfare check (which originated out of the CDA City) wherein it was reported the female may have taken a bunch of pills and was apparently headed for the lake. Her husband found her, and after Deputies arrived on scene she was transported KH. 20-09992
• Multiple Deputies responded to the area of Reed Rd. and Dakota Ave. for a possible Kidnapping. It was reported a male juvenile wearing black was pulled into a black SUV, (no plate given). The only information provided was that the vehicle was last seen headed southbound towards Wal-Mart and had dark windows in the back. After Deputies interviewed the two young teenage “witnesses” it was learned the subject was never pulled into the vehicle, the person was already in the vehicle to begin with. Nonetheless, multiple units flooded the area, and set a hasty perimeter until more information was provided. The call ended up being unfounded. 20-10038
• Deputies answered up for a Train Crash. After investigating, it was determined no vehicles or people were involved, however the train had reportedly struck irrigation piping/equipment that was on the tracks. When Deputies went to find the location, the RP was unable to bring them to the proper location. Deputies checked as many locations as they could, and then instructed the RP to call back if they were able to ascertain where the incident took place. 20-10051
• Around 1700, the weather came on hard and deputies responded to several crashes, and several more slide offs, most of which were on the prairie. Most were property damage or very minor injuries. ISP responded to several crashes and slide offs as well. Post Falls Highway District responded to sand Hayden Avenue, particularly the area where there were three crashes and a slide off on Hayden near Highway 41. Lakes Highway District was requested to sand or assist with signage shutting down Lancaster across the prairie due to drifting snow and white out conditions, but they said there was nothing they could do and did not respond. After a few very busy hours, the crashes slowed in frequency through the night.
• While investigating a crash on Hayden Avenue east of Highway 41, a Deputy observed a vehicle losing control sliding towards her. The Deputy would have been hit, but was alertly able to slide around her front push bumper and the vehicle only struck her patrol car, then bounced into another vehicle. 20-10082
• While ISP was investigating the fleet crash involving the Deputies vehicle, another vehicle struck the ISP Trooper’s vehicle. We investigated that fleet crash. 20-10085
• Deputies responded to the Hayden Cinema for a suspicious male in the parking lot who was acting intoxicated or on drugs and carrying a hammer. An ISP Trooper arrived on scene first and contacted a male, who had just watched a movie with his friends and claimed to be having vehicle trouble. When deputies arrived the Trooper notified them that the male had burnt tin foil in his pocket. The male was also acting under the influence of something. A K-9 Deputy ran K9 Deuce around the male’s vehicle and got a positive indication and Deputies located marijuana, paraphernalia and methamphetamine in the vehicle. The male also had a meth pipe and heroin on his person. He was arrested for Mara/Para, Possession of Meth and Possession of Heroin. 20-10105
• Deputies contacted a female victim for follow up on a burglary case involving her grandson, who last week stole $1,700 from her residence. The female previously did not want to press charges and the investigation was closed CV, but after learning the male had committed another theft involving a firearm in Coeur d’Alene, she changed her mind and wanted to press charges for the burglary and grand theft. • A Deputy stopped and arrested a male driver for DUI (.193/.184). 20-10120
• Deputies handled several weather related calls, such as slide offs, traffic hazards (trees falling over roadways), and alarm calls.

• Several units responded to the area of I-90 westbound near MM 17 to assist ISP on a vehicle with stolen plates. (Reportedly similar to the one the plates were stolen from to begin with). Upon contact, it was the victim, in his own truck, who neglected to remove the rear plate from his own vehicle causing the hit. 20-10184
• Deputies took a report of a stolen vehicle taken from a residence where it had been stored on Elk Drive. The vehicle had been recovered in Spokane but the owner had not known it was stolen until being notified by Spokane PD. The investigative lead has not been located for contact. 20-10191
• Deputies responded to a 9-1-1 hang-up that turned out to be a dispute between a male and his ex-girlfriend. The dispute was over custody of a dog they shared while engaged, then over the male having a new girlfriend. Most of this was a civil matter, but the female shoved the male during the argument. He refused to press charges but wanted the her trespassed from the property. The dog issue will likely cause additional problems in the future. 20-10206
• Deputies responded to an address on Highway 3 reference a possible DVA Violation. The R/P reported that while her 13 year old child was talking on the phone with her husband, she heard him (who had custody of their other three children at the time) in the background slurring his words, and she believed him to be intoxicated. This was a violation of a Protection Order they had in place, which stated that he could not consume alcohol while he had custody of the children. When deputies contacted the male he showed signs of intoxication and provided a breath sample of .159. He was cited for violation of the Protection Order. 20-10208
• A Deputy stopped and charged a male driver for DUI (.145/.151). 20-10213
• Deputies responded to a car fire on I-90 at MM 1 and was able to put the fire out with a fire extinguisher before firefighters arrived. 20-10223
• After completing a crash investigation on Burma Road, a Deputy observed a possible DUI driver in the area and arrested the male driver for Mara/Para. 20-10230
• Deputies responded to a reported physical family disturbance. The caller reported an intoxicated female had battered her 15 year old daughter. When units arrived, the daughter was extremely upset and crying, however, denied needing any medical attention. The mother was in her bedroom and refused to exit when ordered to do so, instead, yelling at Deputies to get out of her house. After a little time trying to get the female to comply with commands to exit and remove her hands out of her pockets, Deputies entered the bedroom to detain her. She backed up against the wall and the Deputies were forced to go hands on with her. The female resisted the Deputies by pulling away, trying to kick them and then striking one of the Deputies in the neck with her elbow. She was ultimately secured in handcuffs and arrested for resisting/obstructing and battery on a peace officer. 20-10229
