John A. Deeter, 85

John A. Deeter, 85, of Coeur d’Alene, passed away peacefully on Feb. 13, 2020, at Hospice of North Idaho. John was born Dec. 6, 1934 in Leon, lowa. He moved with his family to Spokane, Wash., at the beginning of fourth grade. He was a graduate of Rogers High School in Spokane.

In the spring of 1959, John moved his family to the Hoodoo Valley in the Priest River area and took over his parents’ farm located on the Pend Oreille River. He became a well-known cattle rancher in North Idaho, raising Hereford cattle. Upon selling the farm years later, John earned his real estate license and began selling large tracts of timberland with a local realtor in Coeur d’Alene until his retirement in 2000.

John is survived by sons Steve (Leslie) and Ron (Leslie); a daughter, Fawna (Mike); eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and numerous close friends.
