City cancels annual parade, car show

The city of Hayden decided to cancel its annual Hayden Days festival, including the parade and car show set for July 24 and July 25, due to concerns regarding the escalation of coronavirus cases in North Idaho.

The decision was made by city officials and organizers after discussions with representatives from the Panhandle Health District.

“The city feels it is important to take precautions to lessen the risk for the community, as public health and safety is its highest priority,” a Monday press release said.

This is the first time since the city of Hayden has conducted the event that it has been canceled, “but those involved feel it is in the best interest of the community.”

Vendors and parade applicants will receive refunds or credits toward next year’s event.

Hayden will conduct the Hayden’s Got Talent show with the help of WakeMedia CDA. The talent show will now be virtual and interactive with finalists’ videos being posted, and the community voting for the winners.
