Wine proceeds will benefit Kootenai Humane Society

COEUR d’ALENE — If you have a heart for animals and a palate for good wine, you won't want to miss the animal-themed wine tasting Saturday at the Dinner Party.

Guests will be treated to samples of wines with critters on the labels, including Fat Cat Cellars pinot noir, Lab white from Portugal, Bar Dog red wine featuring a terrier and the Spanish Llebre, featuring bunnies.

The tastings are complimentary, but all proceeds from purchases of these wines will support the Kootenai Humane Society, a nonprofit no-kill shelter.

Dinner Party owner George Balling said he and wife Mary have been big supporters of KHS in their 13 years in business.

"We support the humane society because we have two rescue dogs," George said Thursday. "Our two previous dogs were rescues. We're big believers in that. What Mary and I always say is, 'Rescue dogs never forget it.'"

The tastings will be conducted at 2, 2:45, 3:30 and 4:15 p.m. The 2 p.m. time slot is filled, but openings are available in the other times.

"We’re doing it in time slots so we can be sure people are comfortable," George said. "We're trying to limit it to 20 people in the store."

RSVP by email to info@thedinnerpartyshop.com or call 208-765-5653.

The Dinner Party is at 3510 N. Government Way in Coeur d'Alene.
