Summer is coming to the playground of the Inland Northwest

COEUR d’ALENE — The Coeur d’Alene Resort is in full swing.

On Tuesday, it was flowing with people milling and meandering around outside and inside, with valets on the run and parking cars, while gardeners tended to the field of red geraniums.

Boats slowly eased their way from the marina, gliding under the boardwalk bridge and heading out to Lake Coeur d’Alene.

Meanwhile restaurants like The Dockside and Beverly’s, and Whispers, a lounge, all with lake views, are busy. The koi fish swimming in aquariums are the center of attention.

To get in visitors first must have their temperature checked by resort staff, a quick process that takes a few seconds. Staff are also wearing masks.

The Plaza Shops are also opens and thriving.

As the playground of the Northwest, resort officials says summer is set to be full of community events, live music, fun on the lake, exquisite food, golf, and memories.

“As the states begin to loosen their restrictions, we have received so much feedback from guests about how excited they are for the chance to get out of the house, grab dinner at their favorite restaurant and breathe in some fresh air on Lake Coeur d’Alene,” said Amy VanSickle, director of marketing at The Coeur d’Alene Resort. “We’ve worked hard to ensure a safe, fun experience for our guests.”

It’s a welcome rally after being closed for a month due to the coronavirus and finally reopening in early May.

With 338 guest rooms, The Resort used the shutdown to do some deep cleaning, pressure washing, and drained and regrouted the pool.

Coeur d’Alene is today one of the country’s most beautiful cities and The Resort is rated among the very best. It’s a year-round destination. In the summer season, The Resort employs more than 1,000.
