Salmon closes on Lower Salmon

| June 18, 2020 1:00 AM

The Chinook salmon fishing season on the Lower Salmon River closed Wednesday, and anglers can no longer target Chinook after June 20 on the Little Salmon River.

The closures are intended to protect salmon broodstock returning to hatcheries in the South Fork Salmon and Upper Salmon Rivers, and Fish and Game expects the harvest objectives to be met by Saturday.

Beginning June 26 an additional Chinook salmon fishery is expected to open on the Upper Salmon River.
