AARP Foundation Tax Aide program reopening

| June 17, 2020 1:00 AM

The AARP Foundation Tax Aide program is reopening to prepare 2019 federal and Idaho state tax returns at Lake City Center and Silver Lake Mall.

Tax Aide will be open through July 15, possibly beyond that date if necessary.

“Tax Aide volunteers are looking forward to helping you complete your returns,” a press release said.

Lake City Center will be open Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

An effort is being made to contact those taxpayers who had appointments prior to the shutdown in March. Those taxpayers will have preference for appointments. Others can call Lake City Center for appointments at 208-667-4628. Lake City Center will open beginning today.

Silver Lake Mall will be open Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday by appointment only. Call 208-446-6997 for an appointment.

“Social distancing has reduced the number of preparers available, therefore we will only be taking about 50 appointments per day,” the release said.

The mall site opened Tuesday.

To comply with our COVID-19 protocols, both preparers and taxpayers are required to wear a mask. Social distancing and sanitizing requirements will be followed. No more than two taxpayers will be allowed with a tax preparer.

Tax Aide will have to see a Social Security card for everyone on your return and a picture id for the taxpayer. Bring all of your 2019 income documents and if possible, your 2018 income tax return.
