ARMED: No one was intimidated by guns

| June 12, 2020 1:00 AM

I’m responding to the two letters that appeared in Sunday’s paper about Sherman Avenue.

Someone sent me a YouTube video of where there were some armed citizens walking up and down the street and socializing with people. The person who was taking the video was making comments that he had heard that there might be trouble coming to downtown. He suggested if these people see the video, they should think twice about coming here and making trouble.

I went downtown last Thursday evening to see what was happening. After I made it past the traffic, I parked at the library and went for a walk. I was walking on Front Street going toward The Resort. I was walking behind four guys that were pretty well armed. I started to go around them when I see an older couple with Washington plates slow down and talked to the four guys. Don’t know what was said but everyone was laughing and the couple went on there way.

I got up on Sherman and was walking and seeing everyone having a good time. Tito’s had outside dining, of course Iron Horse across the street was hopping. The armed people, and some were women walking in groups or standing on corners were looking like they were having a good time. I didn’t see anyone look like they were intimidated by what was going on. Maybe you should take your blinders off.

You think the police department could handle a bunch of these idiots coming with baseball bats and bricks. Don’t know how big our police department is, but I’m sure they would be overwhelmed.
