GUNS: Could cause mayhem

Dear Editor, with the protests to show that we are tired of fatal encounters on black men by police, and marches to show that Black Lives Matter, here in Idaho, there is one disturbing occurrence on Idaho streets; the hoard of armed citizens waiting for the disrupters to show up. In particular the anti-fascist or antifa groups.

I looked up on the internet as to who these organized groups are and found a hodgepodge of loose groups that show up to gatherings and rallies of the KKK, neo Nazi, National Socialists and other organized fascist groups, to disrupt. They also pack guns and are sometimes violent.

According to some reports, these people are not pacifists, but part of their gig is to educate people on what the different Alt right or fascist groups are about. World War II was an effort by the Allies to stomp fascist Germany (Hitler) and Italy (Mussolini) to stop them from changing our world to something that most of us didn’t approve of. So I guess some would call my father and thousands of American troops and Allies anti-fascist (antifa) and as our president calls “terrorists.”

With all of the armed people in downtown Coeur d’Alene, how many were anti-fascists, white nationalist fascist or just run of the mill folks who wanted to protect our buildings. It seems that this time, peace prevailed, but all it would have taken is one shot and all mayhem would have broken loose. I think we all need to talk this out in a public forum before it goes any further in our community. What say you all?
