Notable calls for the day!

05-29-2020

Day Shift handled the following notable calls:

• A Deputy attempted to stop a black sports car in the Hauser area early in the morning. The vehicle fled at a high rate of speed before he was able to gather any other information on the vehicle or call out a stop. It was already driving in a reckless manner prior to him turning on lights. The vehicle made it to Washington fairly quickly. Deputies later learned of a black 2012 Dodge Challenger stolen in the City of Post Falls last night, which could have been this vehicle.

• Deputies responded to a two-vehicle unknown injury crash in the intersection of Prairie Ave. and Government Way. 20-19996

• Deputies responded to E. Maplewood Ave. in Post Falls for a Welfare Check on a female, as her former employer has not heard from her in a while. She was located at the residence and was arrested on her Kootenai County warrant (drugs and obstructing). 20-19968

• Deputies responded to Honeysuckle Ave. and Davis Cir. for a single vehicle injury crash into an adjacent fence. EB traffic was turned around on at Reed while all other traffic was directed at the Walmart entrance. Avista arrived on scene and cut power to a power box the car was sitting on so medical personnel could evaluate the male, who apparently had a seizure prior to the crash. 20-20014

• Deputies handled a theft at Walmart where a female had her purse stolen from the restroom approximately 5 days ago. 20-20003

• Deputies responded to N. Government Way (Northwest Landscape Supply) for a non-injury industrial accident where a female employee operating a loader hit a customer’s vehicle causing significant damage to the vehicle. 20-20222

• Detectives stopped and arrested for a drug charges from a previous investigation.

Evening Shift handled the following notable calls:

• Deputies responded to a residence on Prospect Avenue in Harrison for a possible burglary in progress where the homeowner heard someone in her home. When they arrived, the residence was secure and no signs of forced entry were discovered. 20-20100

• Several Deputies responded to a fight at the trailer park on Cliff House Road. Initial information was a third party report of a fight involving a knife and someone bleeding from the head, and a second caller identified one of the males. There was also information about a suspect leaving the area in a black Ford Explorer with California plates. Deputies arrived on scene and was attempting to locate the involved individuals when they located the suspect vehicle southbound on Hauser Lake Road. As he turned around to contact the possible suspect, the vehicle took off at a high rate of speed onto Highway 53 and westbound into Washington. A second Deputy joined the pursuit, which reached speeds of about 90 mph. The vehicle eventually turned southbound onto Evergreen from Trent and ended up in a fenced parking lot, where it drove in circles trying to avoid deputies and the multiple Washington units that had now arrived. While turning around, the driver looked directly at one of the Deputies and intently crashed into his vehicle, then continued through a chain link fence. The vehicle drove back through the fence and attempted to turn back onto Evergreen, the driver lost control and center punched a tree. The driver was taken into custody for the felony eluding and aggravated assault on an officer by Spokane County. After an extensive investigation and tracking down all the parties involved it was determined there was a fight between two males with the suspect being the driver arrested in the pursuit. The fight did involve a knife and the victim had a severe cut to his head possibly caused by the knife. Based on this extensive investigation, a report will be completed and Deputies will be filing a complaint request for attempted homicide against the suspect. 20-20057

• Deputies observed a vehicle with occupants he was familiar with and knew to have a NCO in place, with the protected person being a 15 year old girl who had previously accused the suspect with rape. Deputies stopped the vehicle in the Hayden Cinema parking lot where suspect became argumentative, and his father also drove up to the scene. After other deputies arrived, Deputies arrested suspect for violation of the NCO and cited him for possession of drug paraphernalia. 20-20083

• Deputies responded to a domestic dispute on Sergeants Drive. A male and female were in a verbal domestic dispute called in by a neighbor that had to do with male being frustrated with his various medical issues. There was a NCO in place reference a prior battery between them. The male was wheelchair bound and was cited for the NCO violation and he was picked up by his sister to be removed from the residence. 20-20063

Night Shift handled the following notable calls:

• Deputies responded to W Lacey Avenue for a report of a female wandering in and out of neighbors’ yards and the roadway crying. On scene they contacted the female who was not very forthcoming with information on why she was outside crying, and speaking with her family. It was learned that she believes to have had a miscarriage of twins that were fathered by her imaginary boyfriend from a different dimension. Due to her actions, thoughts, and inability (or lack of desire) to care for herself, she was placed into protective custody. 20-20086

• Deputies responded to the intersection of Rice Avenue and Nine Bark for a call in which a man was fully engulfed in fire. It was initially reported by an off duty Hauser Fire volunteer who lived nearby. The volunteer was able to put the fire out, and Deputies began life saving efforts, however, the male was already deceased. Detectives and the coroner were called to the scene and took over the investigation. Based on the initial investigation there is no indication of any suspects at large. 20-20089

• Deputies responded to the Athol Super1 for two detained shoplifters. On scene he contacted loss prevention who claimed, a male and female who were both detained, had stolen a flood light several days earlier. After watching the video surveillance of the incident, he cited and released for petit theft. 20-20090

• Deputies responded to the Super 1 in Hayden for a detained shoplifter. He contacted a female, who was caught stealing a sandwich. Super 1 was desirous of prosecution, and Deputies cited and released her for petit theft. After citing her, Super 1 felt it necessary to gift her the sandwich. 20-20093

• Deputies responded to E Wolf Lodge Bay Road (Camp CDA) for a physical domestic. On scene they contacted a male who claimed his girlfriend, had attacked him and then ran away threatening to kill herself. Deputies located her in her cabin. She claimed there was a mild argument, but nothing else happened. Witnesses in the busy campground were contacted who stated they had observed the two in a vehicle and heard crying, but never saw anything physical occur. Marijuana was located in the cabin where the female was contacted. She was cited and released for possession of paraphernalia and marijuana. 20-20102

• Deputies took a report of a missing 14 year old male, after he took his ATV for a ride to the Hauser Boat Launch. The juvenile who lives off Hoyt Road, was being tracked by his mother using an app on his phone. The app showed him drive over Smith Road to the boat launch then turn around as if he was going home. Prior to exiting the launch, the app lost signal and it was learned the phone had died. She waited a few hours for him to return, but he never did. Deputies scoured the area of Hauser Lake, Church Road, Winch Avenue, Hollister Hills, and Spiral Ridge with no luck. The Air Force Search and Rescue Coordination Center was contacted who then began a forensic phone search. Recreation Safety Deputies were contacted, the search is ongoing. 20-20103

Notable calls for the day!

Day Shift handled the following notable calls:

• Deputies responded to W. Riverview regarding a Battery. Upon their arrival they learn there was a neighbor’s dispute between two males. After the investigation, one of the males was issued a citation for battery. 20-20150

• Marine Deputies responded to the Coeur d’ Alene River near River Rd. and the CCC Rd. in the Cataldo area for a report of jet boats racing up and down the river. Shoshone County was our RP as the boats were traveling in both counties. Deputies were able to make contact with an event coordinator and explained the law and the need for a event permit. 20-20151

• Deputies responded to Super1 Foods in Athol regarding a shoplifter. As employees attempted to contact the male he drop the stolen items and fled the parking lot. 20-20167

• A Deputy responded to Walmart in Hayden regarding a shoplifter. As employees attempted to contact the male he dropped the stolen items and fled the store. 20-20196

• A Deputy took a cold battery report which occurred at Hauser Boat Launch. After completing his investigation a report was completed. 20-20166

Evening Shift handled the following notable calls:

• Deputies responded to Honeysuckle Beach for a welfare check on a male and female and two children who looked dirty. The female was acting agitated, swearing and going from trash can to trash can. She had been reported to be rummaging through the trash, but explained that she was picking up trash and showed deputies a trunk full of trash bags she collected. She also admitted to possession of a pipe and marijuana and was cited for Mara/Para and warned about her use of foul language around families and children. 20-20239

• Super One in Hayden reported trespassers refusing to leave. Deputies responded and learned that a female’s son had been accused of stealing by Loss Prevention Officers at Super 1, who then followed him down the road. They discovered this was a misunderstanding and he had paid for the items in his possession. When mom learned of this she came to the store and confronted staff, yelling and cursing at them. The manager requested the mother to be trespassed from the store for one month. 20-20243

• A Deputy checked out with a vehicle in the field near Prairie Avenue and Corbin Road. The driver was arrested on his warrant. 20-20249

Night Shift handled the following notable call:

• Deputies responded to the Casino for a trespassing. Security recognized one of their patrons who had been trespassed. The suspect previously signed a five year trespass order in 2018. He claimed to have not been the one to sign it at first, but after Deputies showed him that the signature on his driver’s license was identical to the signature on the trespass order he suddenly remembered. He was issued an infraction citation for trespassing. 20-20279

Notable calls for the day!

Day Shift handled the following notable calls:

• Deputies responded to FSR 385 x FSR 332 for a non-injury crash. RP stated his truck slid down a soft embankment. The truck was only being held up by the trailer holding ATV’s that was still on the road. Vehicle just slid off the road and was not a crash. 20-20308

• Deputies responded to Hayden Walmart for a suspicious. A female reported to Walmart manager that she and her child were being followed throughout the store. Deputies contacted the suspect male described by female and identified him. Deputies escorted the female to her residence for her safety and completed FI 20-20290

• Deputies responded to W. Echo Drive for an unattended death. A male was found by his roommate deceased. Nothing suspicious is suspect. 20-20335

• CSO handled a burglary on a boat in Harrison. A victim had multiple items taken from his boat (fishing pools and reels) worth over approximately $6,010.00. 20-20336

• CSO responded to Casino for a vehicle theft. An employee got off work and could not find his vehicle in the parking lot. The CSO completed stolen vehicle report. 20-20363

Evening and Night Shift handled the following notable calls:

• Deputies responded to E. Hudlow Dr. for a family dispute. A female got into an argument with her daughter. During the argument, mom grabbed the daughter by the shirt and caused several scratches on her neck and face. Mom agreed she took the incident too far. She was cited for battery. 20-20365

• Deputies took a malicious injury to property report from W. Liberty Dr. where a known male damaged a vehicle, however, was no longer on scene. 20-20369

• Deputies took a report of dogs getting out of their yard and killing chickens in the yard in E. 16th Ave. 20-20374

• Deputies responded to N. 15th St. for a 911 hang-up call. Through the investigation, it was learned there was an argument and female struck a male in the head with a stick. There were no visible injuries and male did not want to pursue charges. 20-20380

• Deputies responded to Walmart for a detained Shoplifter. A female was observed concealing items in her purse. She went through the self-checkout and only paid for a small cheaper item. All of the stolen items were recovered. A search of her purse revealed paraphernalia and heroin. She was cited and released on the petit theft and paraphernalia charge, but was arrested on the possession of heroin. More heroin and methamphetamine along with other paraphernalia were also located in her vehicle. 20-20382
