LEADERS: Really must choose wisely
The following is a quotation from a recent Sierra Club letter:
“In the past century, the global expansion of human activities has created a climate crisis with unexpected consequences to our health. Today, species extinction rates are accelerating to a level not seen since dinosaurs went extinct 65 million years ago, along with half of all species on Earth. Habitat losses, rising global temperatures, intense livestock practices, and increased interactions between humans and wildlife all lead to the spread of disease.”
We are running out of time to begin to correct the worldwide problems we have caused. The November election is a chance to do something about saving the Earth as we know it.
One thing should be obvious by now is that our present federal government, and many state governments, are leading us precisely in the wrong direction. Our very survival demands that we stop electing climate change deniers and a president who claims that viruses will magically disappear. Listen to the scientists. Elect people who understand this crisis and will ACT in a rational manner to confront it.
It is no wonder that my grandkids are mystified by the profound misrule that we have allowed to happen.
