Lois Ann Stensland, 73

Lois Ann Stensland was born June 17, 1947, to Elmer and Lienna (Williams) Drapeau, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. She grew up in Coeur d’Alene and Post Falls. Lois was baptized at First Baptist Church in Coeur d’Alene. On Oct. 11, 1965, she was united in marriage to Laverne “Vern” Stensland at First Baptist Church. Their union was blessed with three sons, Steve, Rob and Greg, and 37 years of marriage together. They raised their family in Rathdrum and Post Falls.

Lois cared for the home and family and worked for many years as a telephone operator for GTE before she retired. Vern died in 2002. Lois was a strong woman and never complained through all her pain and illness. Lois died peacefully on July 18, 2020, at Schneidmiller Hospice House, in Coeur d’Alene, at the age of 73 years.

Lois has a grateful and thankful heart and could always be seen with a baby on her hip. She was always kind and made you feel special. The grandchildren adored her. She enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, huckleberry picking, four wheeling, reading, puzzle books and especially time spent with family. Lois loved and cared deeply for all of her family and will be missed.

Lois enjoyed some great memories spent with her sisters. She loved Elvis and got to visit Graceland with her sister, Gloria. She went to Hawaii with five of her sisters and she always looked forward to sister night and the yearly sister Christmas.

Lois is lovingly remembered by two sons, Steve Stensland of Post Falls and Rob (and Christine) Stensland of Rathdrum; daughters-in-law, Christy Stensland, Anna Plymale and Barb Hayes; grandchildren, Tyler, Amy (and Josh), Kelsey, James, Mindy, Jayme, Ben, Riki and Kena; great-granddaughters Jayden and Carlee; siblings, Janice, Edward, Rita, Jesse, Connie, Brenda and Gloria; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vern; son, Greg; five brothers, Curtis, David, Andy, Mike and Frankie Drapeau; and a sister, Kathy Drapeau.

Blessed and eternal be the memory of Lois Ann Stensland.

Funeral service for Lois Ann Stensland, age 73, of Post Falls, will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 24, 2020, at Yates Funeral Home – 744 N. Fourth St., Coeur d’Alene. Family and friends may gather one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Post Falls.
