Jack White, 87, a loving husband, devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather who loved God, passed away peacefully in Coeur d’Alene on July 16, 2020. He was born Feb. 28, 1933, to Clarence and Stella White, in Kentucky.

Raised in Fort Wayne, Ind., and San Diego, Calif., Jack loved to spend time fishing and watching NASCAR and basketball. He met and married Marilyn while in San Diego in 1963. Together they raised three children: Diana, Jacqueline and Scott. They moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1994. He was a devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather who loved spending time with his dog, Jazzy, hosting family holidays and get-togethers and tending to his beautiful flower and vegetable gardens. Jack, or as we all called him, “Pop” loved to be surrounded by family and friends. He loved his job with Lake City High School, where he was the most adored custodian.

Left to cherish Jacks’ memory are two daughters, Diana and Jacqueline; their husbands, Ted and Allen; one son, Scott; his wife, Cody; one stepdaughter, Jody; 11 grandchildren: Aaron, Lindsay, David, AJ, Jonathan, Ryan, Jaccob, Danielle, Matthew, Benjamin and Austin; and three great-grandchildren, Bam, Koa, and Sloan. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn and his sisters, Anna Mae and Bonnie.

Jack proudly served in the United States Navy from 1952 to 1956 as an engineer on the aircraft carrier, USS LST 803, during the Korean War. He will be having a graveside service with military funeral honors at 3 p.m. on Friday, July 24, 2020, at the Riverview Cemetery in Coeur d’Alene.

He will continue to be loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed. Yates Funeral Home, Coeur d’Alene Chapel, has been entrusted with the care of final arrangements.
