Power outage affects more than 1,000 people

About 1,000 Kootenai Electric Cooperative members are without power in the Post Falls/Hauser area.

The outage is reportedly caused by a pole fire on Avista’s transmission system that feeds KEC’s distribution system.

Fire crews have extinguished the fire, according to a post on the KEC Facebook page.

Avista is working to restore power by abut 4 p.m.
