PHD: 66 new COVID-19 cases in a day

COEUR d’ALENE — The Panhandle Health District reported 66 new cases of the coronavirus on Friday.

That brings PHD’s total cases to 1,130. Of those, 412 are no longer being monitored.

The total number of people currently hospitalized remained at 11, and there has been a total of 35 people hospitalized due to the virus.

Kootenai County’s coronavirus count rose to 966, an increase of 62. Of those, 618 are considered active cases.

Benewah County is at 28 cases, Bonner County is at 93, Boundary County remained at nine cases, and Shoshone County is at 20, PHD said. There are 14 undetermined cases.

PHD reported the age group of 18-29 has the most COVID-19 cases at 376. The 30-39 age group, at 18 cases, is the second highest.

Females are being affected more, with 613 cases, while 515 cases are among males.

There has been one death in Kootenai County attributed to the coronavirus.

When restaurants, salons and gyms reopened May 15 under Gov. Brad Little’s Rebound Idaho plan, PHD reported 68 coronavirus cases, with 64 in Kootenai County.
