Children left in car unattended
KCSO deputies issue welfare check on kids
Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office deputies logged a welfare check on Monday after a mother and father left their children in the parking lot of a Hayden Wells Fargo bank.
Deputies responded to a call at 10 a.m. and were on the scene 10 minutes later, finding two unattended children younger than the age of 5 and a dog inside a silver Dodge Caravan.
According to KCSO Lt. Ryan Higgins, the children were left alone in the car for about 20 minutes total.
Under officer discretion, the deputies decided to not issue a citation to the parents. However, they warned the parents of the dangers of leaving children in a warm car unattended.
There is no information indicating if the windows were cracked open or why the parents left the children unattended while she entered the bank.
