The new Carl’s Jr. will open soon at 216 W. Appleway in Coeur d’Alene.
With inside seating for 74, to-go options and a drive-through, hours are 6 a.m. to midnight daily. The menu includes charbroiled burgers, chicken, breakfast burritos, sandwiches and biscuits, sides, desserts and kids meals.
Starting in 1941 in Anaheim, Calif., Carl’s Jr. has more than 1,000 places in 28 countries. In Coeur d’Alene, general manager Ted Baumgardner is assisted by Jennifer Mika.

High-quality house plants, modern pots and botanically-inspired home goods are offered at Fern Plant Shop that opened last week at 211 E. Lakeside downtown.
The newly-remodeled place features exposed brick, high ceilings and modern fixtures. It includes a Wilder Coffee Roasters slow bar with owner Spencer Lambas.
“Come find your new plant, pick a modern pot, and we will transplant it for you,” said owner Alex Ekins. “You’ll find friendly exceptional service, knowledgeable advice and the highest quality products.”
Fern offers home or business plant consultations and staging and plant-themed weddings. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

With gold and silver jewelry with precious and semi-precious stones, Aqua Gem Jewelry opened last week in Suite 108 on the south side of the Costco Plaza building in the corner of Neider Avenue and Government Way.
Owner and jeweler Angelito Marapao offers custom-made diamond and gold jewelry and is offering a special sale through the month.

With options of three sizes of New York-style pizza, New York Pizza Dept. (NYPD) opened July 1 at 4380 W. Riverbend Ave., on the west side of Post Falls.
Included on the menu are 14-, 18- and 24-inch pizzas and pizza by the slice, salads, strombolis, sandwiches, pasta bowls, beer, wine and mixed drinks. It’s home of the 36-inch pizza challenge.
