TRAPS: A little sanity, please
I would like to add to what my friend Linda Sorensen wrote July 1 about wolf traps being a threat to domestic dogs, just off the trail in places like Cougar Gulch.
Throughout the West, our ancestors shot wolves on sight to protect their livestock.
But in recent years, state and federal fish and game officials have reintroduced wolves, thanks to pressure from environmentals.
Wolves can run on top of snow, but elk when chased sink up to their chests.
Result — too much elk kill.
Solution — waste more taxpayer money to pay people to shoot wolves from the air in the wintertime.
However, when snow is not on the ground, these people encourage trappers to imperil domestic dogs.
We are paying the salaries of these incompetent officials.
