Charlotte E. ‘Lottie’ Capaul

| July 5, 2020 1:00 AM

Charlotte E. “Lottie” Capaul, of Coeur d’Alene, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2020. Lottie was born in Wansdorf, Germany, on Jan. 29, 1928. She worked as a telephone operator in Berlin during World War II.

Lottie made her way to the United States of America, in 1947, where she soon met her husband, George M. Capaul Jr. They would have been married 70 years in July.

Lottie worked for the Coeur d’Alene School District in food service and became kitchen manager at Bryan Elementary for more than 20 years. She loved her “children” very much and cooked with that love every school day. She was a wonderful cook and baker for her family as well.

Lottie was preceded in death by her beloved husband George M. Capaul Jr., in 2002, and is survived by her three daughters: MaryLou Wimmer, Georgia (Lynn) Crockett and LeaAnn (Tim) VanLohuizen. She had six grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter.

The family would like to thank the staff at Life Care Center of Coeur d’Alene, especially the 400 Wing, where she spent the last three years. They were her surrogate family recently due to COVID-19. Thank you so much! Also to Hospice of North Idaho for her peaceful passing.

Respecting her wishes, no services will be held.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Kootenai Humane Society or to Hospice of North Idaho.

English Funeral Chapel is entrusted with her arrangements. To see Lottie’s online memorial and to leave a message for the family, please visit www.englishfuneralchapel.com.
