Cyclist dies after being hit by Coeur d’Alene driver
SPOKANE — A Spokane woman who was hit by a suspected intoxicated driver from Coeur d'Alene has died.
Washington State Trooper Jeff Sevigney, WSP spokesman for Spokane County, confirmed the death on Thursday.
Kerry R. Wiltzius, 65, was riding a bicycle on Washington State Route 206 near Mead when she was hit from behind by Jonathan D. Ryser, 46, early on the morning of June 26. She was wearing a helmet.
Wiltzius was airlifted to Sacred Heart Medical Center, where she died from her injuries Tuesday.
Ryser was not injured. He has been charged with vehicular assault.
Sevigney said the speed of the crash and Ryser's level of intoxication are a part of an ongoing investigation.
