Janice Ann Molen (Mason), 87

Janice Ann Molen (Mason), 87, of Post Falls, died Dec. 20, 2019, while in the care of Hospice of North Idaho. She was born June 14, 1931, and grew up in Alameda, Calif. Her parents were Everette Mason (born in Indiana) and Thelma E. Harder Heilman (born in California).

Jan earned certificates from the California State Board of Education and went on to teach in Salinas and Alameda. Twenty one years ago she and her late husband of 35 years, Dick Molen, moved to Idaho.

There was no one like Jan. If you knew her, you most likely had seen her talent in whatever creative project she attempted. Jan was gifted and had a passion for the arts. She was a storyteller, often mentioning her father’s work “in the Theatre.”

Jan was bold and seemed fearless in all her endeavors. For example, she and her husband arn the Boston Marathon in 1981, were the only two to complete a marathon on top of the Great Wall of China, and climbed several of the world’s highest peaks.

Jan liked to entertain and hosted many festive parties for her friends and loved ones. As a guest, you would never need to wonder what was in store. The events were always well thought out, from the menu to games, and a myriad of topics to debate.

She will be missed.
