Avondale assistant pro Porter

named Top 50 Golf Coach

ORLANDO, Fla. — Golf player development program, Operation 36, awarded local golf professional Taylor Porter of Avondale Golf Academy as a Top 50 Golf Coach at the PGA Merchandise Show.

The Operation 36 Top 50 Golf Coach list is the only one of its kind that uses quantitative measures to determine who is making the biggest impact on golf through their program.

Golf coaches are evaluated by their use of formal golf matches throughout the year, application of the Operation 36 curriculum, assessing golfer’s progress throughout the season, and the use of online social tools to encourage more practice and play.

In a news release, Operation 36 Co-Founder Ryan Dailey said, “This was not an easy task to narrow down the list of coaches running Operation 36 to the top 50. There are so many coaches delivering fantastic experiences for beginner golfers using Operation 36 around the world.”

Porter, an assistant pro at Avondale Golf Club in Hayden Lake, played at Coeur d’Alene High, Community Colleges of Spokane and Boise State.

“My teaching style is always evolving and adapting to different styles of golfers, athletic abilities and learning behaviors,” Porter said in the news release. “I believe that no two golf swings are the same and that they must be treated that way to get the most out of your students. My style is not to just tell the student what to do but instead film them and show them what we need to work on and how we are going to achieve that goal. When teaching I always try and instill a positive mentality into my students because so much of this game is just being in the right mind frame.”

Operation 36 is taught by nearly 700 coaches across the world at nearly 500 golf facilities with over 28,000 golfers. This year it launched an initiative to create 1 million new golfers over the next five years.
