Coeur d'Alene pins down Sandpoint

| January 24, 2020 12:00 AM

SANDPOINT — Visiting Coeur d’Alene won eight matches by pin as the Vikings beat the Sandpoint Bulldogs 63-15 on Thursday.

“I thought we were aggressive all night,” Coeur d’Alene coach Jeff Moffat said. “We had a couple of hard practices leading up to this, so I thought we’d be a little sluggish. But we didn’t look sluggish. Some of the guys complained that their legs were tired, but I was happy with how we were aggressive.”

Christian Paniagua (98 pounds), Kyle Bridge (106), Alyssa Randles (120), Hunter Schueller (132), Gunner Giulio (160), Bear Brunner (170), Filip Mjertan (195) and Jaxson Washington (220) had pins for Coeur d’Alene, which hosts Lake City in the annual TerHark Cup dual on Wednesday.

“We’re still fighting some injuries, but I was really happy with how the younger guys performed,” said Moffat, who was without four starters due to injury. “It’s a long season, and we’re going to keep plugging away.”
