CLARK FORK — The visiting Lakeside Knights clamped down on defense in the fourth quarter, outscoring Clark Fork 13-2 in the final eight minutes for a 46-40 win in North Star League play on Wednesday.

“We played a little better defense in the fourth,” Lakeside coach Chris Dohrman said. “Clark Fork always plays tough here at home. It’s always hard to get on the bus either direction, and Clark Fork gave us a good game tonight. We need to do a better job of taking care of the ball, making our free throws and playing a little better defense throughout. It was good for our girls to get a challenge like that.”

Samantha Adrian and Arianna Gorr scored 12 points each, Ashlee Holt 11 points for Lakeside (11-3, 6-0 NSL), which hosts Priest River on Saturday.

Ellie Kiebert had 20 points and 10 rebounds for Clark Fork (5-8, 1-3).

MOSCOW — Addisen Kiefer had seven points and eight rebounds for the Hawks, who fell short to the Bears in a 4A Inland Empire League game at Bear Den.

“We had a few open shots and couldn’t knock them down with any consistency,” Lakeland coach Steve Seymour said. “Sometimes, we’re used to shooting when we’re open, and it’s tougher to shoot when you’re wide open. We had plenty of open looks, but just couldn’t get anything to fall.”
