Carol Elaine Lamb O’Shea, 68
Carol Elaine Lamb O’Shea passed away on Jan. 4, 2020, at Hospice House of North Idaho. Carol was born on Nov. 5, 1951, in Crookston, Minn. She attended first and part of second grade in Marmoth, S.D. In 1958, the Lamb family moved to Billings, Mont., and Carol completed her elementary education and part of junior high there, before moving to The Dalles, Ore., where she completed junior high and began high school. In 1967, the Lamb family moved to Kent, Wash., where Carol graduated from Federal Way High School in 1969.
After high school, she attended Peterson Business School before she went to work for Burlington Northern Railroad in Seattle. While in Seattle, she married Terry O’Shea. Soon after, they moved to Kalispell, Mont. They lived in Kalispell for a short time before moving to Mullan, Idaho. Her son, Shane Nathaniel O’Shea, was born while she and her husband were living there. In the early 1980s, Carol and her family moved to Helena, Mont. In the 1990s Carol settled in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
In 2001, Carol began working at Canfield Middle School as a paraprofessional. This position enabled her to positively touch the lives of many people. She worked tirelessly, supporting middle school students academically as well as emotionally. Students knew they could go to Mrs. O’Shea if they needed help with any assignment, even math. She once confided that she completed the math homework assignments, so she would be prepared to assist her students. Students knew they could count on Mrs. O’Shea to listen to their goofy stories or get advice on their unique middle school problems. One student wrote her a note saying, “Thanks for being kind and helpful to everybody, even the bratty kids.” Carol’s position required her to work in many classrooms with many different teachers. She adapted to each teacher’s teaching style and classroom management approach with a positive attitude. Her Canfield family will miss her.
Her parents, John and Eleanor Lamb and her brother Charles precede Carol in death. She is survived by her son Shane, his wife Julie, her grandson Conor and her granddaughter Jordon all of Coeur d’Alene, her brother Wendell Lamb of Snoqualmie, Washington; her friends Gary and Colleen Wichman of Billings, Montana, Bob and Mary Woods of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho and her Canfield Middle School family.
Carol and her family wish to thank the staff at Kootenai Health and Hospice House of North Idaho for the compassionate and wonderful care she received.
As per her wishes, there will be no service. Yates Funeral Home is in charge of final arrangements. In lieu of flowers please send donations in Carol’s name to Hospice House of North Idaho, 2290 W. Prairie Ave., Coeur d’Alene, ID 83815.
