Notable Calls of the Day!

01-03-2020

- Deputies spotted a wanted male on Cape Horn and arrested him on his warrant. 20-00342

- Deputies responded to 22 Ave. in Post Falls for a reported DVA violation. During the investigation, it was learned that a male has been violating the order since it was issued and placed a GPS tracker on his ex-wife’s vehicle. A report for 1st Degree stalking and the DVA violation was completed. The male has not been located and is possibly in WA. 20-00345

- Deputies located a female after multiple welfare checks were made reference her mental state. Some emotional issues coupled with alcohol consumption led to her receiving more attention from the public than she wanted. She entered several businesses looking to use a restroom, however, was visibly upset which caused concern for the public. It was determined that there was no crime committed, however, she did not have a ride home available. She was provided a courtesy ride home.

- A citizen dispute came out at shift change reference a son and his mother. They were trespassed from the property this time. The mom made statements that her son was being hurt, however he refused to say that his father was the one hurting him in any way. At this time the call was unfounded and a report was completed to document the incident.

- Deputies responded with assistance from ISP Troopers to a domestic dispute at the Huetter westbound rest stop. The RP observed what they believed to be an attempted strangulation while sitting in his semi truck. He reported the incident to be in a yellow school bus and said the female was trying to escape out the emergency exit. Deputies located the bus, which turned out to be a “traveling homeless shelter” with five occupants and began a high risk stop. It was then relayed through Central Dispatch that the subjects from the domestic might have been in a motor home parked next to the bus. The high risk stop extended to the motor home and two occupants were detained. Through interviews it was determined that the female in the motor home suffers from several conditions which cause her at times to have panic attacks, which lead her to flail around violently. The male half was holding her down to control her. After the adrenaline dump, she was going to throw up so she tried to get her head out the emergency exit window (not trying to escape the male). No crimes. Deputies completed a FI. 20-00409

- Deputies responded to the Hayden Super 1 reference a detained shoplifter. The male was cited for petit theft 20-00446 and was arrested on his warrant. 20-00453

- Coeur d’Alene PD responded to a shots fired call in the alley behind the Corner Bar, where one patron called to report it and Officers in the area heard 4 to 6 shots. Several Deputies responded to assist as CdA PD formed a perimeter. An area search was conducted by a KCSO K-9, but due to the level of foot traffic from intoxicated subjects leaving the bars, the area search was unsuccessful. No casings were found but CdA PD will be reviewing surveillance footage in the morning. 20-00460

- Deputies stopped a vehicle near the intersection of Seltice Way and Baugh Way. He contacted the driver, who exhibited the signs of intoxication. The driver failed SFST’s and provided breath samples of .218/.219. He was arrested for excessive DUI and open container. 20-00445

- Deputies responded to the 2300 block of E Grand Tour Dr for a report from an alarm company that they received a crash activation on a vehicle and could hear a female crying. Upon arrival, it was learned the female was uninjured and a crash report was taken. 20-00456

Deputies remained busy throughout the shifts with other routine calls and self-initiated activities and traffic stops for both moving and equipment violations.

Notable Calls for the Day!

01-04-2020

- Deputies responded to a report of a family dispute at N. HWY 41. Upon arrival, a female advised her ex brother in law, battered her and left the residence. The battery was reported as a choke hold and a punch in the face. A report was taken as an active case as Deputies were not able to located or contact the male half. 20-00487

- Deputies responded to the area of Government Way. N. of Miles Ave. for a Suspicious Vehicle (Motor home). The RP advised she had seen on Facebook a stolen motor home out of Kent, WA. and the victim was a military family. Units arrived in the area and immediately observed the rear license plate missing, and one rear passenger compartment door open. Deputies made contact with Kent, WA. PD and obtained the owners’ contact information. After speaking with the owner, who provided very specific identifying information, it was confirmed the motor home was stolen. Due to the size of the motor home, and the report that there was supposed to be 9 different types of firearms/rifles inside, the decision was made to have a K-9 respond. K-9 Deputy and his partner responded, the door was breached, (announcements made), and no one was found inside. 20-00501

- A Deputy located a reported DUI driver on Highway 95 x Honeysuckle and it pulled into the Walgreen’s parking lot. A Traffic Team member conducted a DUI investigation and arrested the driver for Felony DUI (drugs, likely suboxone and Xanax with alcohol on board). ISP completed a DRE. 20-00543

- Deputies investigated a Domestic Dispute that occurred yesterday, in which a female was shoved to the ground violently by her boyfriend. She hesitated to report the incident because the male had been calling her repeatedly (more than 30 times) and she had a past incident with him after which he hid in the woods by her residence for five days and watched her actions, so she feared he might get agitated if law enforcement responded to the residence. The male was contacted via phone but denied any confrontation. A report was completed charging the male. 20-00542

- A Deputy stopped a vehicle on Lancaster and Meadow Wood. She contacted the driver, and could smell marijuana emanating from the vehicle. Several items of marijuana along with paraphernalia were located in the vehicle. The driver was cited and released for PCS and possession of paraphernalia. 20-00586

- A Deputy observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on Idahline. The Deputy attempted to stop the vehicle but the driver decided he did not want to stop at that time and a pursuit was initiated. The Deputy lost the vehicle in the area or McGuire Road and Riverbend and a perimeter was setup. The vehicle was located by ISP on the Centennial Trail by 4th ave and Spokane Street. The vehicle was unoccupied but the vehicle came back to a male who lived in Post Falls. Deputies responded to his residence, and with help from Post Falls PD, were able to locate the driver of the vehicle who confessed to running from the police because he was scared. He was arrested for felony eluding. 20-00588

- Deputies responded to the casino and arrested a male subject after his wallet was found by security containing drugs

01-05-2020

- Deputies responded to the area of Cougar Gulch and Hwy 95 for a vehicle crash that occurred somewhere on Greensferry. ISP was out with a driver who advised they crashed sometime last night on Greensferry. It was determined the vehicle in question was located by AM Shift and attempts were made to contact the driver but they were uncooperative at the time. Deputies completed a crash report.

- Deputies responded to Woodland Dr. for a fight between an adult daughter and her mother. It was reported that the daughter slapped her mother. Parties were separated prior to laws arrival. The mother did not want to press any charges and just wanted the daughter to leave, which she did. Report completed

- Deputies responded to Carisa Ct. for a business alarm call. The business was secure and no signs of forced entry.

- Deputies responded to Alaska Loop for a family dispute. An adult son was at his mother’s house acting unrational and making claims that people “the government” was following him. The son was showing signs of paranoia but was not a danger to himself or others. He was provided information about the Crisis Center, but at this time he elected to stay with his family, which they allowed, for now.

- Deputies responded to W. Blueberry Circle for a wanted person. Medical was on scene for an unrelated call and dispatch learned a female on scene had an active warrant. The female was arrested on her active warrant.

- Dispatch received a report of a disabled vehicle on the Bunco in 8 inches of snow. The owner of the vehicle called Clyde’s Towing but was disconnected prior to getting a tow started. Recreation Safety Deputies were doing some SAR Training and were requested to respond to assist. The vehicle was located 11miles up Bunco from the trail head.

- While responding to the call on the Bunco, another called reported a Lexus had slid off the road and was in the ditch. If the driver only realized that the Bunco Road was snow covered during the winter months. Recreation Safety Deputies handled that call as well.

- Dispatch received a 911 call with an open line for a 911 phone only in the Cougar Gulch area. The address originally given was to the cell tower. Deputies responded to the area and checked out with several vehicles in the area and residences in the area but were not able to locate anyone who called 911. The phone was a 911 phone only so a call back was not available.

- Deputies took a missing person call today. A wife called to report her husband as missing. She advised her husband left the residence yesterday and has not returned. The husband took an AR-15 style rifle with him along with his vehicle title. An attempt to the husband’s cell phone was attempted but it went to voicemail. Later on in the day, a Forest Service Unit checked out with a suspicious vehicle on Pope Road and Bunco. The vehicle was the truck our missing was supposed to be driving. The vehicle was unoccupied and cold to the touch. There was cash and a check book on the dash and the glove box was open and the title was on the seat. The rifle and several mags were in the tool box along with the keys to the vehicle. The immediate area was checked by FS units and additional resources were being called to assist. As an additional Deputy was coming into the area, the male was located walking down Pope Road. He was wearing pants you would get from KH and his flannel jacket he left with. It also appeared that he was under the influence of something and was acting very strange. He was not a danger to himself so he was transported to back to his vehicle were his wife was waiting.

- Deputies responded to N. Cliffhouse Rd. for a domestic report. Upon his arrival, the female, who appeared to be high on Meth could not articulate a crime. It appears the verbal argument was over the “hiding of a personal item” and no crime had occurred. Deputies contacted the females Probation Officer and advised him of the situation and completed an incident report to document the situation.

- Deputies stopped a vehicle on Highway 53 x Windsong Ln. During the stop, there was plain smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle. A search was conducted and marijuana and paraphernalia was located inside. The driver, was arrested for possession of controlled substance. She proceeded to destroy a bag of meth in the back seat of the Deputies vehicle and was charged for meth and destruction of evidence. She also brought more drugs into the jail and was charged with introducing contraband into the jail as well. The passenger was being taken into custody for frequenting when he resisted and tried to get away. Deputies went hands on and took him to the ground where the struggle continued. After a brief struggle the male was controlled and taken custody. He was arrested for frequenting and obstructing. He also was charged with introducing contraband into the jail when drugs were found on his person.

- We received a call up the Bunco of a male stuck in the snow. He originally requested a tow but called back and stated he had a friend en-route to help him. A short time later, he called back and said his friend is also stuck and asked to facilitate a tow for them. They both had full tanks of gas and warm clothes and cell phones.
