Notable Calls of the Day!

12-31-19

- Deputies responded to a non-injury slide off at Upriver Dr x Hwy 95. 19-50860

- Deputies handled a non-injury crash at Hull Loop x S. Tumblestone Dr. Worley Highway District plow hit a passenger vehicle. 19-50861

- Deputies handled a loud explosion at E Grove Ave. in Athol. Loud explosions were heard near the location and there was reported “smoke everywhere”. Deputies were unable to locate those responsible. It appears someone may have been celebrating the new year. 19-50904

- Deputies handled a non-injury property damage crash on Diagonal Rd X N. Ramsey Rd. 19-50905

- Deputies responded to Cliff House Rd X Woodland Beach Dr for a non injury crash. 19-50868

- Deputies handled a non-injury Hit and Run crash at 4th x Dalton. 19-50896

- Deputies responded to Reeves St. to assist medical who was responding to a highly intoxicated male who had fallen and was bleeding. On scene, Deputies located a male who was on felony probation. The males probation officer was contacted and advised Deputies to arrest him on an agents warrant.

- Deputies stopped a vehicle at Seltice and Fredrick. The driver, showed signs of intoxication. A Deputy who was on a DUI emphasis, responded and conducted a DUI investigation. She was arrested for DUI and Open Container. 19-50969

- A K-9 Deputy assisted ISP on a T-stop at Riverbend x Pleasantview x I-90 and conducted an area search for them for potential drugs being tossed from a vehicle.

- Deputies stopped and arrested a male for DUI on Strahorn x Hayden.

- Deputies stopped and arrested a male for DUI at 4th x Prairie. 20-00024

It was a very busy New Years’ Eve with several Fireworks and Weapons Offense calls as people were celebrating the new year. Many traffic stops were made all over the county.

Notable calls for the day!

01-01-2020

- Recreation Safety Deputies responded to a report of several vehicles stuck in the snow in the Fernan Saddle area. This road is not maintained until the USFS and the Groomers close the forest for Snowmobile operations. Several tows were called to assist the stuck motorists.

- Several Deputies responded to assist Spirit Lake PD in apprehending a subject with a Felony DOC Warrant who had been spotted at the White Horse Saloon in Spirit Lake. The male was arrested by SLPD without incident. 20-00101.

- As that call was wrapping up, there was another agency assist reference a disorderly male next door at Joe’s Hole. A male was “acting like a maniac” in the bar, while highly intoxicated. Deputies contacted him as he exited the bar with the assistance of other bar patrons and told him to walk home. The male (who is 6’04” 260 plus pounds and has extensive officer safety alerts and was known to deputies on scene to be combative) yelled at them to kill him. They were able to deescalate the situation for a short time, but as he started walking away, The male urinated in the street, stumbled intoxicated on the roadway and took a swing at an unmarked KCSO detective vehicle as it drove by. He was contacted by Spirit Lake PD with KCSO cover deputies, again trying to deescalate the situation, but the male took a fighting stance and took off his shirt, threatening the SLPD Officer. Deputies tackled the male and he was taken into custody by SLPD. 20-00106

- As that call was wrapping up, ISP got into a pursuit westbound I-90 from MM 22 with a vehicle with stolen Montana license plates. The pursuit was discontinued after the vehicle sped towards downtown Coeur d’Alene on Sherman Avenue at 75 plus mph, but KCSO Deputies, ISP Troopers and CdA PD Officers checked the area and staged in case the vehicle emerged. It was located by a CdA PD Officer unoccupied on Appleway in a parking lot and the two occupants were located a few minutes later on foot by ISP and arrested for various charges. 20-00108

- Multiple callers from quite a wide radius, from English Point to Huetter x Prairie to Honeysuckle x Atlas reported a very loud explosion that “rattled the windows” of their homes. A CdA PD Officer at the Police Station also heard it. Similar reports were made around the same time in Spokane County. Deputies checked the area, but nothing was located and no further explosions were reported. It is hypothesized that the explosion sounds were from a high speed aircraft from Fairchild AFB. 20-00125/20-00126

- As the roads became very slick around Lancaster and Strahorn, a 17 year old male crashed his vehicle into a power pole, causing a power surge that seemed to trigger multiple business alarms in the Hayden area. 20-00144
