Notable calls of the day!
02-21-2020
• Deputies responded to a residence in Hayden for a reported Burglary In Progress. Once on scene it was learned a male had passed away the day before in the City of CDA. The person contacted was next of kin and there was no other family in the area. The male was at the residence to find documents and information for family members.
• Deputies responded to a residence in the Black Lake area after a homeowner reported that his contractor may be squatting at his residence while doing work at the home. That claim was unfounded but the homeowner appreciated the check of his residence.
• Deputies assisted Detectives with an arrest of a male for drugs.
• Deputies responded to the Lake Drive Motel reference the ongoing issue with the guest who refused to vacate the room for which he had not been paying for quite some time. The Inn Keeper law was reviewed once more, and ultimately after being reeducated guest agreed to leave if given two hours to gather his belongings and vacate, at which point he and his girlfriend were notified they were trespassed from the property
• Harmony House employees called to report a female had stolen her own cigarettes from the manager's office. We dealt with this Wednesday as well. She has a contract limiting how many cigarettes she gets at a time. The female returned the cigarettes and will be disciplined in-house.
• Deputies responded to a trailer in the Twin Lake area after neighbors reported that the occupant had not been seen for multiple days, his lights were on and his vehicle was parked on scene. Deputies located the male deceased in the trailer. It appears the male died of natural causes.
* Deputies investigated a battery between jail inmates. Apparently on of the pods, there has been an issue with an unknown inmate using too much toilette paper and not flushing. This mystery inmate has been dubbed the "Poop Burglar." Today, an inmate spilled his orange juice and used toilette paper to clean it up. He left the toilette paper in the toilette, which led other inmates to believe he was the "Poop Burglar." He was confronted and punched by another inmate.
• A Deputy stopped a vehicle on Highway 53 at Prairie Ave. He contacted the driver, who exhibited the symptoms of intoxication. The driver failed SFST's and provided breath samples of .083/.087. He was arrested for DUI.
• A Deputy observed a mailbox laying in the roadway at McGuire Rd. and Fisher Ave. He attempted to contact the resident in the area as that is where the mailbox appeared to have come from. A male was contacted outside of the residence who was uncooperative and refused to speak to the Deputy. The male said he lives at the residence, but had nothing else to say. The Deputy watched the residence from a distance and observed lights go on and off of a vehicle under a car port on the property as well. Through the investigation, it was learned the homeowners also have a residence in California. They were contacted and advised the house has been vacant since September and no one should be inside. They provided permission to enter the residence by any means necessary and remove anyone inside. The male was contacted again outside of the residence. He was detained and later arrested for trespassing and unlawful entry. Deputies cleared the residence at the request of the home owners. No one was located inside, however, there was evidence someone had been in the residence very recently as the shower had been used and still had water on the ground and it smelled like fresh soap.
Notable calls for the day! 02-22-2020
• Deputies responded to N Highway 41 for a welfare check. It was reported a resident had a history of medical issues and recently not answered any phone calls from her mother. Deputies were able to make entry into the residence and located the occupant deceased. It appears the occupant died of natural causes.
• Deputies responded to an agency assist with ISP. ISP received a call of a male walking in the lane of travel on Interstate 90 about MM22. Upon their arrival the male attempted to evade the Troopers by jumping the center barrier. Once Deputies got on scene everyone worked together and was able to get the male off the interstate. Troopers were able to detain the male and transport him to the Hospital.
• Dispatch received multiple calls of two dogs at large and appeared vicious in the area of Ridge Dr. and Huckleberry Rd. As Deputies was en route they received an additional call in which that RP had contained the dogs. Deputies were able to secure the dogs and transport them to the Post Falls Shelter.
• A Patrol Sergeant was flagged down by a motorist on Highway 95 stating that the vehicle in front of him had passengers drinking beer. The Sergeant stopped the vehicle and discovered all four occupants (16-18 YOF), had been drinking. A Deputy arrested the driver, for DUI (.068/.070), and the Sergeant cited each of the passengers. Coors Light, Twisted Tea and a handle of vodka were seized.
• Deputies responded to an address on East Point Road after a female called 9-1-1 claiming to be harassed on her property. The female was immediately uncooperative, would not follow commands and started to berate deputies on scene, providing conflicting statements and mostly denying calling 9-1-1. It was confirmed that she called, but her reports of harassment appeared to be false and she would not provide any information reference her original claim. She was cited for misuse of 9-1-1.
• Deputies responded to Bayview for a hit and run crash leaving the Captain's Wheel. The run vehicle struck a parked pickup, and in his attempt to flee did not make it far, losing control and crashing through a fence, into a shed owned by the Bayview Water District and coming to rest on a guide wire for a power pole. Patrons at the Captain's Wheel saw the crash and took the keys from the driver, as he continued to spin his tires trying to get unstuck. Deputies arrested the driver for Excessive DUI as a witness was willing to Citizen Arrest.
• Deputies responded to a traffic offense in Hauser reference a vehicle speeding through the neighborhood. They located the vehicle and arrested the driver for DUI (refusal) and Marijuana/Paraphernalia. He was also arrested on his felony domestic violence warrant out of Colorado.
• Deputies responded to the Holiday gas station for weapons offense. Dispatch relayed someone had called 911 from inside the business and said "He has a gun" and they could hear a physical altercation in the background. Deputies arrived within a minute of the call and learned and four people came inside the business, two Hispanic females and two Hispanic males. The older female was apparently hitting the older male with a mop inside the business. The clerk asked them to leave due to their behavior. The male became enraged at the clerk and said something to the effect "she has a gun". The male attacked the clerk and had numerous items strewn about the store. The group left in an unknown vehicle. No firearm was ever brandished. It is unknown at this time if any merchandise was stolen. Surveillance footage was unable to be obtained due to technical difficulties, but management is working on it. A report was taken.
• Deputies responded to W Twin Lakes Rd for a report of a 13 year old male who was missing along with his mother/step-father's vehicle. The boy may be headed to Montana to see his father. The incident is still being investigated.
Notable calls for the day! 02-23-2020
• Deputies took a burglary report on were a pistol and a bottle of women's lotion was stolen from the residence.
• A Deputy and his K-9 assisted PFPD with a possible burglary in progress call. Once on scene, it was determined K9 usage was not appropriate.
• Deputies responded to N. Government Way for a citizen dispute. The R/P called in because a female was out front yelling that R/P had stolen her "crack pipe" and was hiding her daughter in the house. The female has documented mental health issues and there was no crime and there was no crack pipe.
• Deputies responded to the area of the Hayden Library for a report of a male making obscene gestures and yelling at cars. A male was contacted in front of the Walmart. He stated he thought a car was following him so he gave them a hand gesture. The male was trespassed from the Library.
• Deputies responded for an unwanted person on E. Hayden Lake Rd. A male was reported to be the residence and living in the shop and refusing to leave. Deputies were able to arrive on scene and calm things down. The male was trespassed from the property and left.
• Deputies responded to N. Hauser Lake Road for a battery. A male was in a verbal dispute with girlfriend’s daughter. Prior to Deputies’ arrival the male pushed the female on the chest area. The female refused to press charges.
• Deputies responded to a family dispute in which a 15 year old was "out of control" and "ripping a dresser apart." Deputies were able to calm the situation down.
• Deputies responded to N. Altamont Rd. and arrested a female for her warrants.
• A female was called in trespassing and pounding on the neighbor’s house. The neighbor said she has been called in multiple times doing this and wanted to do a citizen’s arrest on her for disturbing the peace. Deputies contacted the female and arrested her.
• Deputies responded to the CDA Casino reference a theft of a wallet and several tickets for over $1500. During his investigation, he identified the male suspect and responded to his address in CDA to contact him. Deputies were able to contact the suspect who denied knowledge of the incident. The suspect’s PO was contacted who requested a compliance search of the house during which they located a second male hiding under the bed. Evidence of the theft at the casino was located, as well as a counterfeit bill, some drugs and paraphernalia. Both males were arrested for grand theft. They will have agent's warrants issued in the morning as well.
