Mardi Gras comes marching in Feb. 29

| February 21, 2020 1:00 AM

The Coeur d'Alene Arts & Culture Alliance is hosting its fifth annual Mardi Gras celebration Feb. 29 from 5:30 to 10 p.m. in the ballroom at the Coeur d'Alene Eagles, 209 E. Sherman Ave.

This final Mardi Gras features the “best of the best” restaurants: Bardenay, Republic Kitchen + Taphouse, Scraps BBQ and Sweet Lou’s. Past winners of the chef’s choice and people’s choice awards will treat guests to New Orleans-style creative samples, with tasters casting votes for their favorites.

Tickets are $40 each and include food, entertainment and a ticket to mini-raffle items, including a stay and play package at the Coeur d'Alene Casino, six tickets to the Coeur d'Alene Summer Theatre production of "The Full Monty" at North Idaho College this summer, a cruise on Hayden Lake and dinner at the Boathouse and more.

The fundraiser is a two for one; tickets will also get the holder into the Fourth Street Fire Benefit Concert at The Coeur d'Alene Resort the same night.

In keeping with tradition, the Second Line parade, led by last year’s king and queen, will go from the Eagles right to The Resort to kick off with popular band, The Rub. A portion of the ticket price from Mardi Gras will go to the Fourth Street fire benefit.

The street entertainment includes fortune tellers, body painting, interactive art, juggling and prizes for best costume and most spirited reveler. The event promises lots of raucus fun and revelry — and beads!

Tickets are available online or at the event. Guests don’t have to be present to win.

Buy tickets at www.artsandculturecda.org/mardigras or at the Coeur d'Alene Convention and Visitors Bureau at 105 N. First St. Must be 21 or older.
