PRESS PIGSKIN PROGNOSTICATORS

| February 6, 2020 12:00 AM

Simply super season ends with 11 winners

By MIKE PATRICK

PPP Commissioner

According to The League’s official scorekeeper, Mr. Joel Donofrio, the 2019-2020 final Coeur d’Alene Press All-Star Pigskin Prognosticators standings have been audited, verified and passed the sniff tests of Buster the Boxer and Sammie the World’s Greatest Cat.

Here they are, with the pigskin picker, affiliation, record and his or her selected local nonprofit:

CHAMPION: Mike Randles, Coeur d’Alene High athletic director, 173-94-1: Children’s Village

2. Steve Cameron, Press sports columnist, 170-97-1: Community Library Network Foundation

3. Lee White, Coeur d’Alene police chief, 169-98-1: Safe Passage

4. Suzanna Spencer, STCU, 166-101-1: Post Falls Food Bank

5. BobbieJo Vroom, TDS, 163-104-1: North Idaho STEM Charter

6. Pat Knight, Post Falls police chief, 162-105-1: Newby-ginnings

6. Jim Hightower, Domino’s Pizza, 162-105-1: Tesh, Inc.

6. Jim Winger, Lake City High athletic director, 162-105-1: Jeff Hinz Fund

9. Mike Kennedy, Intermax Networks, 160-107-1: St. Vincent de Paul

9. Jared Staples, Papa Murphy’s Pizza, 160-107-1: Open Arms Real Choices Clinic

11. Anne Hagman, The Murray Group, 156-111-1: Heritage Health

As champ, Randles won four half-page ads in The Press for Children’s Village to use in 2020.

As runner-up, Cameron earned two half-page ads for the Library Network.

Because The League used the same app Democrats employed in the Iowa Caucus, a front-page article last week mistakenly stated that Chief White had a one-game lead on Cameron. They were, in fact, tied, which left The League fit to be tied because Cameron ended up winning by picking Kansas City to win the Super Bowl. White wagered on San Francisco.

In his magnanimous magnificence, the Commissioner has decreed that White will also be awarded two half-page ads for Safe Passage. That way, the Commissioner prays, the police chief’s boxer will point his weapon at a fire hydrant instead of the Commissioner’s leg.

Finally, as all good stories should, this one ends on a happy note. Free agent and community stalwart Anne Hagman notied The League this week that she has joined a terrific local company, The Murray Group. Because of that fine match — and the fact that finishing last qualified her for the consolation prize — Hagman has earned a quarter page ad in The Press for Heritage Health.
