UPDATE 2 P.M.: There’s nothing like a good neighbor.

In this case, it’s Innovation Collective, across the street from the burned-out businesses.

The Press received a copy of the following:

This morning, the same as many mornings, a tragedy struck. But the difference today is that this tragedy strikes at the hearts of many of us instead of feeling far away. Our friends, office mates, small business owners, and co-conspirators of good lost their building to a fire. Our hearts go out to Emerge, Cole Taylor, Heart of the City Tatoo, Schmidty’s Burgers, Michael Score Farmers Insurance Agency, 720 Haberdashery, and anyone who frequented those businesses.

If you know someone who created or worked in the buildings, please let them know they have free coworking, fiber internet, showers, conference rooms, and desks to use here at the Innovation Den.

We will be reaching out the owners of each business, but please do share this email with anyone you know tied to the businesses to let them know they have a temporary office space with us. If you were impacted by this fire and would like a free coworking space, please email doug@innovationcollective.co or kristin@innovationcollective.co

May moments like this teach us all to be grateful for the calm moments and empathetic to what others are going through. We can build the tomorrow we want by acting as a true community today.

Best,

The Innovation Den and Innovation Collective

There were no injuries in an early morning fire Monday that completely destroyed several businesses in downtown Coeur d’Alene.

The blaze started around 1:30 a.m. in the ceiling likely above the Cole Taylor Salon at 200 N. Fourth Street and burned into the roof lines of surrounding business on the 200 block of N. Fourth, Fire Chief Kenny Gabriel said.

Six businesses were affected, according to the department.

No one was injured in the blaze that was reported by a passerby and required two ladder trucks to quench.

Firefighters were mopping up early Monday morning as commuters in the surrounding area were met with street closures and city crews cleaned up debris.
