Kathy Anne (Day) Eckhardt, 50

Kathy Anne (Day) Eckhardt, 50, died suddenly at her home in Porter, Texas, early on the morning of Dec. 24, 2020. She was born in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, April 27, 1970. Kathy was a graduate of the Post Falls High School, class 1988. She married Dale Eckhardt, July 1992, in Coeur d’Alene.

Kathy and her husband traveled throughout the U.S., eventually landing in Porter. She held various jobs in her adult life, including cooking in restaurants and car detailing; work gave her great satisfaction. She enjoyed working with her husband in his auto detail shop. A love for animals was instilled in her at an early age. Kathy was a nurturer to many stray kittens, protector of them against the neighborhood raccoons. She carried life events on shoulders that were bigger than her small stature, with strength and grace. Her belief in a higher power then carried her.

Predeceasing Kathy is oldest son, Tony Day, her mother-in-law and several grandmothers. Surviving her is husband, Dale, and step-daughter, Tabitha, at home; sons, Dale, Jr., Daniel and Deacon, in Texas; parents, Harold and Linda Day of Post Falls; sisters, Lisa (Dave) Thompson of Coeur d’Alene and Mary (Mike) Donovan of San Jose, Calif.; brothers, Mikel (Tonya) of Post Falls, Chet Day of Butte, Mont. and Tom (Kim) Day of Parma, Idaho.

Darst Funeral Home in Kingwood, Texas, is in charge of final arrangements. A private memorial service with family will be held at a later date.
