PANDEMIC: Stand up to naysayers

| December 25, 2020 1:00 AM

What happened in Boise with demonstrators hounding CDH members’ homes with children, attempting to physically break into meetings and buildings, all is beyond upsetting! In addition we see Nazis deface the Wassmuth Center for Human Rights.

Yet again, white supremacists’ hold on this state rears its head. When will Sen. Crapo and Sen. Risch stand up and speak out against systemic racism and this radical anti-mask and anti science instigators? Their irresponsible behavior toward our elected leaders and public health experts crosses a line from rightful demonstrations to harassment.

What will my elected officials do to speak out against this and finally lead this state to science-based public health policy and rational health measures? The conspiracy mongers and disinformation campaigns are a literal public health danger and an assault on our public health system and even worse, confidence in our civic life and voting systems.

It is well past time for Sen. Crapo and Sen. Risch to fight this pandemic with rational and steady leadership that is a force against misinformation and intimidation. We as Idahoans must stand up and accept how poorly we have been led, and demand better leadership by our Governor, legislators dominated by the dogmatic Trump Republicans. Our citizens are literally dying and economic aid hamstrung by far right conservative dogma. It benefits only the interests of a few. It’s utterly appalling.
