Light show shines at Suntree RV Park
POST FALLS — Mike Connolly takes holiday lights seriously.
A trip to Suntree RV Park, 350 N. Idahline Road, proves it. There, on more than an acre, you'll see nearly 90,000 lights.
"We use the latest in Christmas light technology and computer programming to create our animated light show and it is all synchronized to holiday music," Connolly said. "You’ve never seen anything quite like it. All of the lights continuously change colors, intensity and brightness while at the same time dancing in sync to the music. It’s guaranteed to get you into the Christmas spirit."
It's a year-long process of planning, preparation and installation and Connolly believes it is one of the premier Christmas light shows in North Idaho and eastern Washington.
Last Christmas, over 10,000 vehicles, including buses, from as far away as Montana enjoyed the light show during the holiday season.
"Our most distant guest came from the Philippines after having viewed it on his satellite TV," Connolly said.
He said they improve the holiday light display each year by increasing its size, changing the layout, adding more lights, more songs, new props and new features.
And it's free.
"Bring your loved ones along and create memories that will last a lifetime," Connolly said.
You have the option of viewing the lights from the comfort of your vehicle while listening to the music on your vehicle’s radio (106.9 FM) or you can leisurely walk through the display by passing through a lighted tunnel of almost 80 arches, some of which are 20 feet tall.
Favorite attractions include the fire engine and "Mega Tree," each with almost 8,000 Christmas lights.
The Christmas light show runs through the first week of January from dusk until 10 p.m. on weekdays and until 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
Donations of non-perishable food items will be collected by a local food bank.
To get there, take Interstate 90 to the Pleasant View Road exit. Turn a block North to 5th Avenue then one block East to Idahline Road — or just look for the lights!
