GOP: Spiraling into madness

| December 23, 2020 1:00 AM

What has happened to the “Grand Old Party” — the party of Lincoln — that I have supported much of my life? It has become a party of political madness.

The party resembles men lost in the desert following mirage after mirage, while searching for water that isn’t there. Instead of water, the Republican Party is searching for fraud that doesn’t exist in the magnitude that would change the outcome of the election.

There was no Dominican Republic algorithm, electronically switching ballots from the president to Biden. If it had existed, it would have appeared in the various state recounts. All 50 states have certified their election results.

Many of Donald Trump’s policies were sound but he was his own worst enemy. His erroneous tweets became fodder for the left-leaning national news media.

Outwardly, he portrayed the character of a wise, all-knowing Wizard of Oz; however, like the wizard behind the curtain veil, he was an insecure man who lashed out at anyone who questioned his policies. Would you want your children to emulate his crude mannerisms?

It is time for our Republican congressmen to put country ahead of politics and acknowledge that Joe Biden has won the 2020 presidential election.

Our nation is being torn apart. Democracy is being challenged. Secretaries of state in five states and their election boards are having their integrity challenged, simply to appease President Trump’s ego.

God help us hold our republic together!
