GIFT: A Christmas kindness

| December 23, 2020 1:00 AM

On Dec. 11, my niece and I were over at my parents’ home decorating their yard for Christmas.

A car pulled up and a nice lady walked across the street and asked, “How are they?” With a little hesitation we both looked at each other and said, “OK.”

She proceeded to tell us she doesn’t know them and they don’t know her. She told us she has lived in the area for 29 years and has always waited to see their home decorated for Christmas and noticed it hadn’t been done.

I then introduced myself and told her I was their daughter and my dad had been ill, so we were going to get it decorated. I said it may not be exact, but we were going to try our best.

She said when it’s decorated, she knows it’s Christmas here. When, what to our surprise, she handed my niece a wonderful gift and wanted my parents to have it.

There are wonderful people out there. Thank you so much. Merry Christmas from our family to yours.
