GENEROSITY: In hand of beholder

| December 23, 2020 1:00 AM

I would like to respond to Steven Adams’ letter that the $1 donation made to the Salvation Army kettle at Fred Meyer is not a generous donation in his book. Unless Mr. Adams personally knows the financial state of that donor, how can he judge if it was a generous donation or not? For all he knows, that person could be one of the thousands of people out of work due to the pandemic and $1 to them is a generous donation.

I would also like to add that all the small change and $1 bills donated add up, and I would feel safe in saying I’m sure the Salvation Army is grateful for all donations dropped in their kettles.

Since it is going to be challenging for many families this year, I’m hoping, Mr. Adams, you have made your generous donation to the red kettles this season.
