CHALLENGE: To keep a customer

| December 23, 2020 1:00 AM

An open letter to Kootenai County businesses.

Dear retailers:

If you want my money then follow the county-wide mask mandate. Show me you are willing to do your part to safe-guard the public health.

I will no longer support businesses that refuse to mask up and do not require customers to mask up. Let me tell you why you should listen to me. I am highly educated (doctoral degree), gainfully employed, ample discretionary income, well-connected in the community and not afraid to voice my displeasure.

I recently shopped at Upscale Mail, Tim’s Custom Meats in Post Falls and the Coeur d’Alene U-Haul on Appleway. I saw a total of one employee total wearing masks and this was at U-Haul. No other masks in sight on either employees or customers in spite of published notices on-site about masks.

This needs to stop. I am stopping in my own way by never shopping at those locations again — ever!

You have lost my money and my good faith in your desire to be a contributing member of our community.
