Betty Jean Starren, 92

| December 23, 2020 1:00 AM

Betty Jean Starren, 92, was welcomed into the loving arms of her Savior on Dec. 7, 2020. She was born on May 9, 1928, in Aitkin, Minn., to Ferris and Isabel Usher. Betty lived in Northern Minnesota during all her primary years, and she married Frank (Pete) Starren in 1948 and lived in Warroad, Minn.

After having three children, Pete and Betty moved to Grand Forks, N.D. and had two more children. Betty was a stay-at-home mom for many years, providing a fun-filled childhood for all her kids. She then worked at the customer service counter at Sears for 18 years.

Pete and Betty retired to Northern Minnesota, wintering in Victorville, Calif. After Pete’s passing in 1991, Betty continued living in both places. In 2000 she moved to Post Falls, Idaho, to live her remaining years. She spent many of those years volunteering at the local library. The last eight of those years she lived in assisted living at Garden Plaza retirement community.

Betty was very active in that community, participating in all activities and acting as an ambassador for new residents. Betty had a love for life and made friends easily, as she had an insatiable curiosity and concern for everyone she met, and went out of her way to be friendly and make everyone around her feel loved.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents, her husband and two brothers. She is survived by her sister, Audrey; her five children: Connie McMenamy, Penni (Mike) Sheridan, Neil (Melissa) Starren, Jon (Julie) Starren, and Peter (Beverly Mobley) Starren. She also leaves behind two grandchildren: Michelle (Brian) McCabe and Ben (Gaby) Davis, along with six great-grandchildren: Kelsea, Justin, Alex and Tyler McCabe, and Mia and Maceo Davis, along with many nieces and nephews.

Her ashes will be buried alongside those of her husband, Pete, in Warroad.

Until we meet again, dear lady……
