POST FALLS — A man is in jail after police allegedly found illegal drugs in his home.

Matthew J. Melchiori, 32, of Post Falls, is charged with possession of a controlled substance, a felony.

Police responded to Melchiori’s residence Wednesday at the request of his probation officer.

A search of the residence allegedly yielded what appeared to be an oxycodone pill, as well as other paraphernalia, including pipes.

Melchiori, who was on felony probation, reportedly said at the scene that he had been smoking “mexi” pills like the one found in his residence. Police said those types of pills are often counterfeit prescription pills laced with fentanyl, a synthetic pain reliever.

Police arrested Melchiori at the scene.

Judge Mayli Walsh ordered Thursday that Melchiori be held on $10,000 bail.
